If the reports linking Celtic with Tobias Lauritsen are accurate, the champions may finally be addressing one of the biggest weaknesses in their squad.
Standing at an imposing 6ft 5in (196cm), the Sparta Rotterdam striker would immediately add a physical presence Celtic have lacked for years.
Lauritsen enjoyed another impressive season in the Eredivisie, scoring 12 league goals while also contributing five assists. Renowned for his aerial ability, strength and hold-up play, he is exactly the type of striker defenders hate facing.
His arrival could become even more significant following Celtic’s appointment of Ross Grant.
The club recently confirmed Grant has joined Martin O’Neill’s coaching staff with a particular focus on set-piece analysis and coaching. That appointment could prove just as important as any new signing if Celtic finally begin making the most of dead-ball situations.
For too long, Celtic have looked vulnerable defending corners while rarely posing the consistent aerial threat supporters expect when attacking them.
A striker of Lauritsen’s size changes that immediately.
Corners become genuine scoring opportunities. Wide free-kicks suddenly have a target capable of dominating centre-halves, while his height would also provide another commanding presence when defending set pieces.
Football is increasingly decided by fine margins, and set pieces often make the difference between winning and dropping points. With Ross Grant now tasked with improving that side of Celtic’s game, signing a dominant aerial striker could be the perfect combination.
Supporters have been crying out for greater physicality in the squad, and Lauritsen appears to tick that box.
Whether the move materialises remains to be seen, but if Celtic are serious about evolving under Ross Grant’s specialist coaching, Tobias Lauritsen could become the focal point of a completely new attacking dimension.
Could Ross Grant and Tobias Lauritsen be the combination that finally turns Celtic into one of Scotland’s most dangerous set-piece teams?

Philip I understand what you’re saying but I’d rather get the guy Duran from Qarabag he looks like a better option in my opinion, however maybe we’ll get both of them as we know this board are brilliant at getting transfers over the line 😂🤣😂
