THE RUMOURS AREN’T ENOUGH ANYMORE

Every transfer window seems to follow the same script.

A new name appears. Supporters begin discussing the player. Videos emerge online. Reports gather momentum. Optimism grows.

Then… nothing happens.

Over the past few days alone, Celtic have been linked with several players, including reports of interest in defenders and midfielders such as Nobel Mendy and Gvidas Gineitis, while other names continue to circulate across the Scottish media and supporter websites. At this stage, however, many of those stories remain just that—reports rather than completed transfers.

That is the problem.

Supporters are no longer interested in winning the race for the most transfer links. They want to see players arriving at Celtic Park.

Every day that passes without strengthening the squad is another day lost before the biggest matches of the season.

Champions League qualifiers do not wait for clubs to get organised. European football punishes hesitation. Successful clubs identify their targets early, conclude negotiations quickly and allow new signings time to settle.

Celtic have built an excellent financial position over many years. That should allow the club to act decisively instead of appearing to spend weeks negotiating while rivals continue preparing for the new campaign.

Being linked with players creates headlines.

Signing players creates stronger teams.

There is an important difference between those two things.

Supporters have heard promises before. Every summer arrives with talk of ambitious recruitment and learning lessons from previous transfer windows. Yet frustration returns because too much business appears to happen late, leaving little time for preparation.

This squad has already seen departures and further changes remain possible, making timely recruitment even more important.

Nobody expects every rumour to become reality.

But supporters are entitled to expect urgency.

The clock is ticking towards another season where Celtic will once again be judged in Europe.

The discussion has gone on long enough.

When will the headlines become signatures?

  1. Celtic under Desmond and his malignant cabal of corporate greed and austerity fc have been empowered by misguided season ticket holders, and they have no one to blame but themselves for what carnage comes next , stop giving them your money or you are complicit in the destruction of our club
