Celtic Transfer News: Why the Board Must End the Delays

CELTIC’S BIGGEST OPPONENT ISN’T THE TRANSFER MARKET – IT’S HESITATION

Every transfer window follows the same frustrating script.

Celtic identify targets early. Supporters are told the club is working hard behind the scenes. Weeks pass. Other clubs strengthen. Celtic are still “in talks.”

The latest reports linking the club with Tjark Ernst and Zinedin Smajlović may yet result in signings, but as pre-season moves on, supporters are still waiting for something concrete.

This isn’t about demanding panic buys.

It’s about asking why a club with Celtic’s financial strength repeatedly allows itself to fall behind the pace.

Champions League qualifiers don’t wait for slow negotiations.

Every day a signing is delayed is another day lost integrating new players into the squad.

That’s not ambition.

That’s poor planning.

Celtic have built a reputation for being cautious in the transfer market. Sometimes caution is sensible. Too often, though, it drifts into hesitation.

The board should be setting the pace in Scotland, not reacting to it.

Supporters aren’t asking for miracles.

They’re asking the club to act like one of the strongest financial forces in Scottish football.

Because at some point, “we’re working on it” has to become, “he’s signed.”

Otherwise, another transfer window risks being remembered for what almost happened instead of what actually did.

The supporters have done their part.

Now it’s time for the board to do theirs.
