Martin O’Neill Needs Ammunition – Celtic Must Back a Proven Winner

Martin O’Neill once built one of the greatest Celtic sides of the modern era, but even he would tell you that success doesn’t happen without the right players.

Every great manager needs ammunition.

The current Celtic squad has quality, but it is painfully obvious that more is required if the club is serious about competing on all fronts. The Champions League qualifiers are fast approaching, and this is the time when decisive action should already have been taken.

Supporters aren’t asking for miracles. They’re asking for ambition.

The foundations are there. A talented core remains, exciting young players are emerging, and the addition of set-piece coach Ross Grant shows there is at least some willingness to improve behind the scenes. But coaching alone won’t bridge the gap against Europe’s elite.

Martin O’Neill’s greatest strength wasn’t just his management—it was having players capable of carrying out his vision. Chris Sutton, John Hartson, Neil Lennon, Alan Thompson, Stiliyan Petrov and Henrik Larsson gave him the firepower to take Celtic to another level.

That’s the lesson the current board must remember.

If you want success, you have to invest in the team. Waiting until the final days of the transfer window is a gamble Celtic cannot afford to take. Every week that passes without meaningful additions is another week lost in preparation.

The supporters have backed the club year after year. They deserve to see that same commitment from those making the decisions.

Give Celtic the quality signings they need. Give the squad the depth it requires. Give the supporters something to believe in.

Most importantly…

Give Martin O’Neill the kind of ammunition that made Celtic feared across Europe, and remember that every successful Celtic team has always been built on strength, ambition and decisive action.
