O’Neill Provides Transfer Update Ahead of New Season

Martin O’Neill has offered Celtic supporters fresh insight into the club’s transfer plans, confirming that work is continuing behind the scenes to strengthen the squad before the new campaign gets underway.

Speaking ahead of Celtic’s pre-season clash with Shelbourne, O’Neill admitted the club are actively pursuing new signings and remains hopeful that reinforcements will arrive soon.

“We have a number of players that we’re looking at,” he said. “Hopefully, within the next couple of weeks we’ll be able to add quality players. The club have been making inroads into it.”

There was also encouraging news regarding Colombian striker Camilo Durán, with O’Neill revealing that the teenager was undergoing his medical.

I think at this minute Duran will be coming in. He’s doing a medical, I think, just as we speak.”

The Celtic manager also confirmed the transfer window is far from one-way traffic, revealing the club have been receiving bids for members of the current squad.

“We’ve had a number of offers in for players as well too at the same time.”

Away from transfers, O’Neill explained that pre-season is about more than fitness. The coaching staff are working on improving the team’s attacking play and finding quicker ways to break down opponents ahead of another demanding domestic and European campaign.

His comments will reassure supporters that recruitment remains active, but many fans will still be looking for signings to arrive sooner rather than later. With the Premiership opener drawing ever closer, words now need to be followed by new faces through the door.
