At long last, could Celtic finally be on the verge of landing a genuine attacking reinforcement?
Reports are gathering pace that the Scottish champions are closing in on a deal for Qarabağ forward Camilo Durán, with the Colombian’s representatives understood to be in Scotland as negotiations continue. While nothing has been officially confirmed by the club, this is one transfer story that appears to be gathering real momentum.
Durán, 24, has enjoyed a remarkable rise over the past 12 months. After joining Qarabağ for less than £200,000, he exploded onto the European stage during the 2025/26 campaign, finishing with an impressive 15 goals and 10 assists in 45 appearances.
Perhaps even more encouraging is that he has already shown he can perform on the biggest stage. Durán scored five Champions League goals in ten matches, finding the net against the likes of Benfica, Ajax, Eintracht Frankfurt and Newcastle United. Those are the sort of performances that inevitably attract attention from clubs across Europe.
Reports suggest Celtic’s opening offer of around £1.7 million was rejected, with Qarabağ believed to value the player between £2.5 million and £3 million. Even at that price, it could represent excellent value for a player entering his prime with proven European experience.
What makes this rumour particularly exciting is Durán’s versatility. Comfortable as a centre-forward or operating from the wing, he offers pace, directness and a real goal threat—qualities Celtic have been looking to add ahead of another crucial Champions League campaign.
Supporters will understandably remain cautious. We’ve all seen promising transfer stories emerge before only for negotiations to stall at the final hurdle. Until the scarves are held aloft and the contract is signed, nothing can be taken for granted.
However, if Celtic can get this deal over the line, it would be an encouraging statement of intent. Signing a player who has already delivered in European competition would show the club is targeting quality capable of making an immediate impact rather than simply planning for the future.
For now, all eyes will be on how negotiations develop over the coming days. If Camilo Durán does arrive at Celtic Park, he could prove to be exactly the type of exciting attacking addition supporters have been waiting for.

Duran looks decent but as usual with over £100m in the bank we’re signing cheap bargains where is the ambition we also need another striker left back centre half 2 midfielders and 2 wingers where are they
